Center Down Rise Ready emerged at a MARCH roundtable meeting late in 2024. We take our name from an essay by the theologian and visionary educator Howard Thurman. We ground justice-liberation work in spiritual practice, and manifest spiritual practice as work for justice. We gather people to bring the power of embodiment, presence, and our deepest values to the work of ending oppression and practicing liberation in our communities.
Faithful noncooperation
Across space and time, the most potent response authoritarianism has been rooted in a single word: no. No, we will not distrust our eyes. No, we will not believe your lies. No, we will not hate our neighbor. No, we will not turn a blind eye to injustice.
Join us to explore the power of collective noncompliance and mass noncooperation that is rooted in conscience, lineage. Building from the foundation of Freedom Trainers teachings, we bring MARCH’s pro-queer, multifaith, multiracial lens to moral noncooperation. Come learn about plugging in and skilling up to help build a culture and country that affirms the dignity, worth, and civil rights of every human being.
